Martock among the winners at South West Market Towns Awards 2007

The south west winners of the National Market Town Awards Scheme for 2007 were announced today (25th June) by James Hassett, Chief Executive of the Market and Coastal Towns Association, and included SMTF Member Martock.

James Hassett was impressed by the entrants. "I have been overwhelmed by the quality and variety of the applications submitted to the Scheme and I congratulate all applicants. This was the second time that the Market and Coastal Towns Association has co-ordinated the Awards and I very much believe that the Scheme has yet again provided a great opportunity for the region to showcase the excellent work taking place in our market towns and to formally recognise the dedication and hard work of our local communities".

Winner of Partnership and Strategic Working Category
Martock Local Community Plan 2007
Making the Most of Martock (M3) Community Partnership

The production of a dynamic and achievable community plan to meet Martock's vision: 'To work together to build a safe, vibrant, fully inclusive and thriving community, in which we are all proud to live and work' and the formation of a strong local community partnership to deliver it.

All category winners will be presented with their award at a celebratory event on Monday 9 July at Dillington House, near Ilminster. During the event one of the four category winners will be announced as 'Best Regional Market Town Project' and will go forward to represent the south west region at the National Awards which are being co-ordinated by Action for Market Towns on 26 September at an event in Newmarket. All winning projects will be published as good practice case studies.
